Galaxy Middle School Reviews

This school is great but very weird when it comes to the dress code. They allow peircings and guys walk around with shirts on but if your a girl wearing a tank top they make you go to your grades housing office and change into somebody else shirt! And also, while 7th and 8th grade are cozy in nice big buildings with lockers, 6th graders are forced for carry around heavy backpacks portable to portable! And one last thing, They keep it like 80 degrees in the portables!

This school is acutally good. while its true that some teachers dont care about the kids. most of the time they act like that towards the less then educaated kids who are far from just help. but overall for the one year i got to go there it was pretty good sure teachers had their faults but they where good at the job they are hired to do and the kids actully arent that bad i am far from a normal person so if i wasent hating it there im sure most people wont since the year iv been at deltona middle made me realize what a good thing that school was. with that i say for every stupid rule they had there usally was an up side. p.s never goto deltona middle

its a very good school I've been there since the beginning of 6 grade going to the 8 grade

The school is not a good school and plus the teacher are so mean

The school is nice but the administrators are mean and disrespectful, as well as some of the teachers and princepals. There are 11 different buildings and sometimes they spread your schedual out so far across campus you are late to the same class everyday. When you are in Inschool Suspension or Alternitave Education you rake leaves. Let's not forget that if you are going to the bathroom a teacher can give you a referal for being out of area when you are in the same building as your classroom, even if you have a pass. You have to walk in line with a teacher to lunch like a kindergartener, too.

Galaxy is one of the finest schools in Volusia County. The teachers work endlessly to help each child do his/her very best, most of them without compensation. The administration understand that middle school years are the hardest to get through and are always out on campus to keep everyone safe and moving to their classes.

That School Sucks The Teachers Could Care Less How Well Your Child Is Doing In School

I give this school a low rating in its effort to handle student issues and call backs to the parent from staff members. 3/10

Galaxy Middle School is the best school to attend!

Galaxy Middle is an excellent school for the exception of some saftey issues & dress code violation issues.

i was a student at galaxy middle. and i think they are awesome!

I think that Galaxy Middle School is an overall good school. Some of their teachers are excellent teachers. I personally think that I myself have the knowledge that I require to succeed in the near future. I personally think that Galaxy really needs to evaluate some of their teachers better. Some of their teachers seem to not care so much on the childs' education. Personally I think that parent Involvement is not so good. I barely see any parent involvement at this school. I would hope that parent involvement is improve. I am a student at Galaxy Middle School. I am going into the 8th grade and I have been at this school for 2 years now. (6th and 7th)

Galaxy is a pretty good school, they keep it clean its a nice looking school, they have good teachers, and they really do care about their students and their educations. But in all honesty some of the teachers that are working at Galaxy shouldent be working at Galaxy or any other school for that matter or even be around kids, because they plain straight up dont like kidds and they probablly dont even like their job so Galaxy should really take a good look at their staff. They should also enforce the dress code because when I go to school I really dont wanna see someones boxers because their too lazy to put on a belt or think its the cool thing to do. Other than those two things Galaxy is a really good school

I am a student going into 8th grade at Galaxy Middle School, i think the school over all is ok. I do wish there were more after school activites, or sprot teams. I understand that some teachers are trying there best while others I feel shouldnt be there if they dont love to teach! I wish I could trust my teachers and look to them for help but I can't i feel they wouldnt care or understand so i just wish they would. Thanks Galaxy Midlle School

Galaxy is an A+ school for a reason! All 4 of my children have been honor roll students there and gone on successfully to high school. The teachers and administrators go above and beyond what is required at GMS. Academics are excellent! The current principal is the best GMS has ever had and we are lucky to have him! All children can be highly successful at GMS if their parents get involved! Go GMS - our community is blessed to have you!

GMS administrators, teachers and wonderful principal are hard working and have the best interest of their students as their main goal.

My son has continued to excel achieving a 4 fcat score for reading and a 5 for Math....yes the school has discipline problems...but this is the same in every school...I think discipline/respect is learnt at home not school...it is not the the teachers responsibility to teach right from wrong, that is a parents responsibility...

Our son has had a most disappointing experience at Galaxy. While they are quick to discipline, they are not quick at all to notify the parents. There appears to be quite a few people 'in charge' but no one to take responsibility when the school had failed to follow up. Our son will not be going back to Galaxy as we feel the campus is unsafe, the school administrators are too overwhelmed to be competent and the teachers seem to be too beaten down with FCAT pressure to be productive in our children's lives

My son completed this year his Middle school at Galaxy. We have a lot of mix feelings for this school. My opinion this school needs to work in big to develop a safety enviroment for childrens. In other aspect most of the teachers are good.

My son has just completed a disappointing year at this school. Setting up a conference seemed to be too much for this school to handle as only half of the teachers showed, and they didn't even know what child they were meeting for. I was told they stopped assigning homework because the children wouldn't complete it. It is difficult to review what's being done in the classroom as they typically do not teach from textbooks. I believe there is a funding issue as there seems to not be enough educational material for each student. I also feel that the quality of at least the 6th grade teachers I had to deal with was not what it should be. Volusia County is consistently at a lower level of academic achievement compared to surrounding counties such as Seminole County.

The students run the campus not the adminstration . Its is as if they dont see the actions going on at the school.

My grandson is an ESE student and I feel that he is just passing time and the administration has abandoned these children.

The parent involvement is very low, but that is the smallest of Galaxy's problems. The administration focuses much to much on negativity, if they would encourage those kids as opposed to trying to threaten them with authority (the kids could care less), Galaxy probably wouldn't be as bad a school as it has been made out to be. The school has teachers that care about the kids and that is great, but unfortunately not enough.

I agree with the other parents! The bullying at this school is out of control. It seems this new principal has no time to deal with a major problem. I think they need to tighten up this school's security and pay attention to what is really going on!

I am greatly disappointed with Galaxy Middle School. The academic courses are the same at all middle schools, but the quality of teaching at Galaxy is very poor. My student did not receive the education she deserved. The chorus program was ok. It was the only reason our student wanted to go to school. I was in constant contact with the teachers, and what I was told by email was different than what happened in reality.

Communication with parents is not too good. High school registration was not handled fairly at all. In this busy day & age only one meeting time was available. Students were allowed to make out their own registration without parental input.

Academic programs run pretty high, you can be in the 8th grade taking an algebra two honors class, they have advanced courses for all classes, extra activities have been cut down, other than electives, there are very few afterschool programs. parents can get involved but only through PTA program.

This school is exactly what my 7th grade son needed this year. I expect the best from my sons in school because they're capable of it. I demand the best for my sons schools because I come from a long line of educators and know what it takes to be a good teacher. Luckily, not only does my son's teachers have the same goals as I do in education, but expect the same from my son as I do. Working together, we form a formidable team for my son to oppose. And we're meeting OUR goal for him. Thanks teachers!

Great school, wonderful teachers, thoughtful programs.

Our second child is about to leave Galaxy Middle School. It has been a great experience for both children. The teachers have been wonderful and accommodating to both children who are four years apart in age.

While my child is doing well academically I too am unimpressed with how they handle the bullying...it is a huge problem at Galaxy, and just the other day when picking up my 6th grader a young man wearing chains and pants dragging on the ground (a complete dress code violation, should have been sent home, the chains could be used as weapons) was giving the middle finger and screaming the coordinating words at one of the school bus drivers right in front of a teacher and absolutly nothing was said....I am completely unimpressed with Galaxy middle school.....and you can never speak to anyone of any importance at the school when you do have a problem.....they should be ashamed!

As the other parent stated, this school boasts a no-bully policy; however, my daughter comes home regularly telling me that other students are harassing her with comments about her dress and with racial comments. I have been told that this is how the kids today are. My question is: why should my daughter and others go to this school when they are being threatened with being thrown in the garbage if they don't get out of someone's way?

This school boasts a no-bully policy yet the kids use profanity, pick on the others, and break rules in the presence of monitors. If you have a child who is failing they let you know after they have failed not before. It seems the concentration is focused on meeting fcat criteria at the expense of the students and personalized attention is selective. The parent involvement groups work as a click and if you are a single parent there are no options available to help you in competing with the favoritism.
