Deltona High School Reviews

Deltona High School is a place to put your child if you want them to 'graduate'. They push kids through, giving them grades they do not deserve, allowing all work to be made up the last week of the quarter or semester and passing kids with Bs and Cs who get 60s on their semester exams. It is a joke and anyone who actually cares about their child getting an education and being prepared for anything after high school should take their child out of that school immediately, as things are just getting worse.

I'm a junior now graduating in 2010 and to tell you the truth i love Deltona. I guess it's the mind set you have when you come to school. Yea, there are crowded hall ways and fights, but seriouly... welcome to the real world. I am so incredibly scool spirited and yes im excited to graduate but I'm really going to miss it. I would never wanted to have my high school experience anywhere else.

Im a sophomore at this school. It has some brilliant teachers, but the students seem as smart as bricks. Its unbelievable. The stupidity of the other students drives me insane sometimes. They need to care more about school. They need to challenge themselves. They need to do something, they make the good students look bad.

I Am a current Junior at DHS... and i must say it is a very great school for Academics.. but not so well on the population and crowding. some of the schedules i have had makes it hard to have a life at school. between classes it is hard to get from one side o the school to the other with in 8 minutes. I have seen my fair share plus more of fights here. but Over all it is a pretty descent school.

I found that Deltona High has a couple new programs that my child is really into. The orchestra teacher is amazing as well

I studied there and i found the experience amazing...i still miss it alot

As a parent of a former student and a current student, I find a considerable trend towards the positive. Yes, the halls are crowded, but this is not Deltona High School's fault. Yes, two lunches have the students hurrying to eat, but is it because they are socializing instead of getting to lunch? Mr. Marks does a great job of leading and the students know him and will talk to him. Any public high school will have quality teachers and staff AND the other types. I do think that there are more parents attending athletic events than there have been. But do the parents get involved any other ways? I contact the teachers since I am the parent and they have more than just my son if I concerned about anything about the class.

As a student going into my senior year at Deltona High school I must forewarn others of the things I have seen around campus: -More than my fair share of fights. -Un-caring guidance consolers and faulty systems leaving you with out the classes you really need in order to graduate on time. -Favoritism in class rooms. -Over crowded hallways. -And of course the two lunches where they try to cram nearly 3000 (1500 per lunch) kids in and out in 40 minutes. Instead of making it like all other crowded high school in this area and having three. ...Over all Deltona High has not improved since the moment I stepped foot into it in 04-05 and that's sad.

I think this school is a verry goood learning environment... Go Wolves

I have very mix feelings about this school. I have had two daughters that have graduated from there and one nephew. It is very over crowd, and the grounds are not very appealing. My son is going to attend this year as a freshman, he is in honors classes, and has very good grades but has heard stories from his sister's about fights breaking out and missing lunch or getting lunch and having less then 2 min. to eat and tossing it in the garbage.

Any school is what you make of it. Yes DHS is overcrowded- stop moving into the area! Once parents teach their children RESPECT and get involved, the school will look better and morale will improve. Don't blame the teachers & administration for everything. What are you doing to make this a great school?

Deltona High School is and 'alright' school. It could use some cleaning up and it's a little overcrowded. But, overall it is an improving school since principal, Gary Marks, has been working there.

I think Deltona High School is a great school yes,is overcrowded The School Board should build another school to help with the overcrowded problem My Son was in the ESE and did very well the teachers and Paras did a great job with the kids they are very helpfull and kind and patient. The Pricipal is great he's doing a great job I've had a meeting with him and when the meeting ended I had a good feeling that he was intrested in my problem and would do his best to find a solution He seems to be very involved in the school's activities. The kids and teachers think the world of him and Ilike it to that he has an open door policy he truely care about the students the Former principal kept his office closed. I'm glad my son goes to D.H.S. Hope my other son will go there to

I think that this school do a lot better the new prinicipal Mr. Mark has done an awesome job over the last two years. Parent involvement needs improvement, and they need to clean the school. Over crowding is pretty bad here

Overall I am happy with the school, but am a little disappointed with a couple of their systems, and am having a very hard time with one of their teachers.

An okay school but a little dirty and overcrowded.

I am currently a student at Deltona High School. I have been at Deltona High for 2 years so far and I think that there could be more improvements done to this school. The schools automated voice system needs to be fixed. They have called my house twice already saying I wasn't in school when i really was. There is barely any parent involvement unless the student is on a sports team. The teachers in this school differ from great to terrible. I have a chemistry teacher that makes sure we understand what is going on and makes learning fun. Then again, there is the accounting teacher that is just an accountant that can't teach. I am not going to lie for this school. There are a pleathora of problems.

I also have two children who are attending this high school 1 who is a a-b student and has never been in any trouble untill she started deltona and 1 is a ese student both of my childern have had problems with teachers who are under educated them selfs. I belive this school is to over crowed and has many problems. I dont recomend this school. If i could i would take my kids out and put them in a better school. I am hearing there going to be building a new high school in orange city thank god maybe they well get a better rateing and better educated teachers who care's about there students.

My two sons are in all honors classes and have done well at this school. Both have participated in sports and other academic programs. Tha major drawback I believe is the lack of parent involvement. The new principal is well liked and striving to make this school better.

I have a 10th and 11th grader at this high school. They both have been involved with sports at this school. The new principal has put forth great efforts to improve this school. The school website offers a tremendous amount of helpful information. We have had no problems at this school. I can only say that both children complain about the lunch periods and not being able to get lunch. They also say that the school grounds are not well kept and makes the school looks trashy. I realize this does not affect their education but it does affect their school pride.

I know there are some major discipline problems at this school, but the community needs to realize that there is only so much a school can do. The rest is up to parents.

I attended this school graduate class of 1996, my step son now goes to this school and although the gang activity and drugs are seen in the school my son has no problems. I would like more parent involvement as he becomes a senior.

I'm a senior at Deltona High and I dislike this school. Some of it is due to certain teachers, but most is the safety factor. Lunches and classes are over crowded and the school in general is just dirty. It has gotten some what better now that we have a new principle and new deans. Other than that the school is mediocre. I suppose. I just wish the principle would hear what the students have to say, the one's who care about being there- not those who show up just to have a social life.

I had a great experience there. The teachers there are there for you when you have any questions to a problem. The activities there are endless. I can't wait till my son grows up to go there.

I am a junior at Deltona High and I can say that there is the bad: fights, guidance counselors who don't really guide, crowded halls, hundreds of portables; but at the same time there is the good: AP classes and teachers, Gifted Program Advisors, the range of extracurricular activities, and most of all Mr. Gary Marks our new principal! Mr. Marks has had an extremely problematic first year yet everyone has good things to say about him. He is actually there for the students with his open- door policy and his motto' Go home and tell your parents you love them.' He is the reason Deltona High WILL turn itself around and he is the inspiration for many of us to succeed!

I believe this school would do better if it provided a more diverse fine arts program.

I was a student attending Deltona High in the recent past, and was always impressed with the academic program. The teachers are absolutely wonderful!

This school is a disgrace to Volusia County Schools. This school is very overcrowded and isnt very well maintained. There are fights on a regular basis and the school is doing nothing. Its very overcrowded and unstable.

DHS is an overall good school, but seems more concerned on getting children in trouble, more so than their education which I feel is not right, my daughter attends this school, and has been straight A's all her life until she went here, now she gets in trouble for going to the bathroom, I think this school deserves the c grade that it got.

When it comes to the band and the color guard they are awesome, but when it comes to violence, they don't do anything about it.

over crowding is a big negative

Deltona High School is committed to educating young adults. From the principal to the teachers everyone is very helpfull. This is a safe and organized facility and well equiped to educate the youth of today for higher education and careers.
