Sunrise Elementary School Reviews

Both my children go to this school and I have been very happy at this school. The staff are great, teachers are excellant, and children are of the upmost importance to the principal. Not everyone is going to like everyone, but I just love Sunrise Elementary and think it's the best school in Deltona!

Sunrise is a great school, with caring teachers. Everyone is so friendly at Sunrise! My son has done very well here.

I really love sunrise elementary school, the teachers and the principal are great. I wish that he can stay at sunrise throughout all his school years but he does have to eventually one day move on. Thankful to have had my son attend such a wonderful school.

The teachers at Sunrise worked very hard with my son this year in keeping him on grade level in all areas. However, the prinicpal was not seen a lot on campus, especially during night-time events. Mrs. Kaye was usually out of the office right after school ended, which didn't allow much time to meet with her. The PTO organization is no longer active at Sunrise due to lack the support of the administration with many of it's parent programs. I have pulled my son out of this school to a attend private school in the area.

My daughter is in a wheelchair and needs extra care. Other schools never wanted to deal with her and always caused me problems at work. Friendship Elm was one of these other schools. I love Sunrise, they take care of my daughter and make her feel so good about herself. Ms. Kay and the front offie staff our very caring and always welcome her when she heads to the clinic. The teachers are wonderful too, Ms Euens and Ms. Ingim we love you both. I wish she could stay there forever but she has to grow up and next year she will be in middle school. I highly recommend this school to any parent of a speacial needs child. Pure heart of Gold! God Bless Sunrise!

Truly, I've never known a more compassionate, and amazing Principal as Mrs. Kaye. Her leadership ability is unsurpassed. How fortunate that she is at Sunrise Elementary School. ~ submitted by someone grateful

We have to say what is the truth. Ms Kaye has been on this school and I only have great recommendations for Sunrise Elementary. I'm glad I moved to this area and that my kids get to go there. Let's face it, the education of our children is responsability of both parents first and then teachers and this is working pretty good. Last but not least, Ms. Confer at the Extended Day Program, what a great person. She is the right one for that type of program and along with their staff I can work with the peace of mind that my children are having a good time!

My child has been in this school for 2 years now, and I have to say, she is getting an excellent education. My child's teachers have been wonderful in both grades. You can reach them at any time and they respond to your emails quickly. Awesome school!

I had heard it was a great school with A ratings. When I put my son there the ratings began to drop. Some parents say that you could see a change in the faculty since the 'new' principle had started. I also noticed that alot of the teachers were leaving. My son and his classmates were pulled from their first grade class because the teacher had left and they were scattered into other classes in the middle of the year. What an adjustment that was!

I wish I would have known someone that had children here before sending mine. Do yourself a favor and find another school if you can. I know that this may not be an option for you but please keep good watch and be active in all you child does while attending here. Good luck to all of you.

I also find that the administrative staff appear uncaring. I have had trouble with the principal returning my calls, or e-mails when I have issues, or concerns that I feel need to be addressed. I am very disappointed with the way things are ran at this school.

The teachers in this school are not effectionate or understanding to the concerns of parents and do not return calls. The principal at this school is very nice if you get to talk with her, but to get to her is very difficult. They do not communicate effectively.

I think the teachers at Sunrise are great. They are quick to let a parent know when a child is slacking or misbehaving so they can catch it early. I appreciate that. This way I know what is going on and can discipline them accordingly. Our main goal is to educate our children so that they can have a productive life.

This school has taken a turn for the worst since the new administration took over. The amount of materials for students is scarce and students needs are not being met by specialty area specialists.

My child has been at this school for 4th & 5th grade. I do not like the new principal or any of the ways that the new administration is handling things. They are lax in giving out information such as 5th grade graduation, yearbooks, I also never recieved any information on when the book fairs were. I am not impressed and I am happy that after this month I will not have a child in that school. If you have a child that is getting ready to start school and is in the Sunrise district- I strongly suggest private school.

I don't like the fact if a child is in an ese program and regular class they pull them from regular for about 45 min each subject and that doubles the work they have to do in regular class

Wonderful school with dedicated teachers who make a real effort to include parents in the learning process.

An outstanding elementary school with a strong focus on education. It is an 'A' rated school year after year.

Great School. Very caring administration and staff. Quality ESE program.

My children have attended Sunrise over the last 9 years. Even though the demographics and populations are changing. Sunrise is still the best public elementary school in the area

Excellent school. Great Teachers. Best public school in w. volusia.

My son is in fourth grade in this school. The school has been great until this year. Their has been a lot of changes with a new principal as well as other advisors.

I have a second grader at this school. My older child attended this school. It was a wonderful school and I always loved it. This year a new administration took over and I have steadily been disappointed by its policies. I personally feel that it is no longer the place that it used to be. If I was new to the area I would not move into the Sunrise Elementary School zone. I live here and am reluctant to move but will not rule it out if Sunrise continues to decline.

Wonderful school with helpful and knowledgeable staff. No complaints at all.

Not very pleases with this schools overall performance. Disappointed in teacher attitude towards parents worries about their child. They pick out their favorites and that is it. Hopefully that is not done in years to come. Would not recommend this school to anyone.
