Greenwood Lakes Middle School Reviews

This is the best school ever! The teachers are great and will do anything to help you learn. Mr. Bradley is one of the best-- correction Mr. Bradley is The best teacher ever. At this school we get a great education and the education we get is not one that we forget.

Have had 2 children in the school - while authority very responsive to parental concerns school very lax on bullying and violence

I have sent 3 childern to this school over the last 12 years and have always found the staff the be caring, well equiped to get their job done, and willing to work with parents and students to educate them and prepare them for the demanding challanges of high school. I will be sending my fourth child their in 2 weeks and couldn't be happier. New admin. this year who hopefully will be as wonderful as Dr.Marcy was. Already hearing great things from teachers who have workred him in the past.

Excellent school for the most part. New principal is caring and related well to children and parents. 8th grade AP is great with children! Advanced science teacher is awesome. She inspires and challenges students to do their best. She is a great role model.

I am in my last year at GLMS. The school is great. Dr. Marcy is nothing but ncie to us. We always see him and he interacts with us alot, I could be walking to class and if he sees a gum wrapper on the floor, he'll pick it up. Dr. C-B is alright. She's kind of scarey sometimes though, shes tough, but shes a really nice lady. Mrs. Ruffing is the best science teacher I've ever had, she really goes above and beyond to give us good grades and teach us for things we will need in LMHS or the other high schools.my teachers are constantly writing my mom letters about how I'm doing and telling them if i'm missing any work, having everyone on top of me helps me strive to do better.there arent many extra curriculars.

Great School! Excellent teachers and administration.

My son has completed 6th and 7th grade at GLMS and has had a terrific education and relationship with his teachers. He is happy and here and feels safe. The principal, Dr. Marcy & Mia Coleman-Baker can't be beat. Kudos to them both.

A new and very impressive principal has arrived for the 2006-07 school year. The school did suffer a setback in the previous few years, and I agree with some of the comments mentioned here. I have sent kids to this school for the last four years, and I am confident that GLMS will once again be a school that prepares its kids well for the demands of Lake Mary High School.

The SLD program in this school is wonderful. The teachers are very caring and indeed want the shcildren to succeed. Mr. Gordon has been wonderful to both my boys. Thank you all

Not happy with GLMS. My daughter is in her 3rd year at the school. Administrative staff prefers to ignore the parent and child vs help. Guidance Counselors are not worth even speaking to (not helpful). There are only a handful of good teachers left. There is no quality in the majority of academic programs. If your child is in intensive reading or math - this is a joke. It is also apparent that the teachers and administrative staff do not get along. My oldest went to this school 7 years ago. Teachers were great but again, the administrative staff and principle, vp, etc, were horrible. I have seen so many principle come and go in the last 7 years it scares me. I do not recommend this A+ school.

My daughter hated this school. We, as parents hated this school. Teacher/parent feedback was non existent.

Both of my sons went to GLMS. This school prepared them oustandingly for LMHS. They were taught the materials and skills to earn scholarships to college. The teachers were genuinely concerned with their well being.

It's a good other then the new Principle.

I liked Greenwood although they are under new leadership which most kids now hate. The gifted programp is great!

This is an amazing school, a terrific enviornment for any child.

GLMS has an administrative staff that does not welcome parents' involvement other than for manual labor assistance for events, with the exception of a handful of popular, full-time PTA moms. From what I have seen, the guidance counselor does little in the way of handling discipline problems in a professional manner. I have seen a number of incidents of 6th gr. guidance just hollering and intimidating instead of working on the problems. The TMD program leaves a lot to be desired, as the kids do not interact with non-disabled peers. The hearing impaired program is particularly inferior. The majority of children is isolated and leaves to attend the state school for the deaf. Of note, the cafeteria staff is superb! They seem to embrace the disabled with no problems providing help and have a wonderful attitude! There is a wonderful science teacher in the lab, and children find him fascinating!
