Lake Brantley High School Reviews

My daughter was a 2003 graduate of LBHS with a grade point average of 3.54 with a number of extracurricular activities and competitive All Star cheerleading schedule. During her Senior year, she took (3) AP classes per her teachers' recommendations. Of those (3), she passed (1) in the county exam. Despite my concerns about her foundational education at LBHS because of the diverse curriculum, she has excelled at Florida State University with a GPA of 3.65 after almost two years. Her writing capabilities from Lake Brantley have enabled her to make A's on all her college English courses. In addition, she was able to pursue (4) Interior Design courses in her four years, the last of which was a 'one on one' with the teacher doing a major project. That will facilitate her major at FSU in Interior Design. Overall, our experience was outstanding.

With one 2003 graduate and one Junior, Lake Brantley HS is a blessing to my 'gifted' children. The excellenat Math & Science program, abundant AP classes and variety of electives can be seen in the catalog. Yet the teacher dedication, acedemic focus, high standards and the understanding, support and encouragement of diverse abilities and interests, is not quantifyable. Quality of programs is excellant. (Ignore state A,B,C grades which are lowered by 'not significantly improving in the lowest 25%'. Look at FCAT and SAT scores, 'Bright Future's Scholars', science fair and competition winners and especcially the high number of students getting into colleges of their choice, many with merit-based scholarships. With 3000+ students there are many interest groups, extracurricular activities and opportunities. Some may seem like 'cliques' yet my children always felt welcome to join any they had time for. Parent involvement is encouraged and PTSA makes a big difference.

This could be an A school. There is little discipline applied. Few students bring any work ethic to school, and they don't get any while there. A student getting A's abd B's at this place will be in for a big surprise if they go to college.

Thank you Lake Brantley for making a difference in my children's life. The academic standards, community involvement, sports, and other activites that the school offers, along with the support of caring teachers and staff, have helped our children to enjoy their high school years and become well adjusted and caring citizens. Our efforts as parents, complimented with your overall guidance, made a real difference!

this is a great school. kids can make friends easily without that awkward feeling. the exxtra envolvment this school has to offer is above and beyond what you could imagine it has alot of clubs from latin club to surfing club and sports such as wrestling, dance, football, etc..with things to get the whole family (including parents)involved.Lake Brantley isnt divided up by 'groups' which some students are familiar with as some schools might be, most all students get along. although some teachers are strict and some are more lienent they all offer great learning for the students. teachers and parents as well as exta faculty such as the assistant principal, guidance counseler are well involved with the students well-being in thier environment, and open and available, as well adding thier school spirit. its an overall great school to consider going here is a great decision as well as a great opportunity.

I currently attend Lake Brantley, and from what I've encountered, it is a very stuck-up rich school. Cliques are everywhere and very mean and hurtful to anyone not like them. I used to think our reputation as a snobby little rich school were false, until i realized it myself. Don't get me wrong, the academics are great, the student body as a whole is what makes this school very cold and unwelcoming.

Lake Brantley is a great school overall, its just the little things such as teachers and many of the students that just keep it from the excellent standards. I think that for the most part they have a good basis of education . They have a wide variety of sports, which lets you find the one that you fit in the most. I do disagree however that most of the sports have to revolve around football. No doubt football is a great sport, but that doesn't mean that the other sports have to have less equipment and not as nice practice field as the football team does. Again it is a good school, and I would pick it over most of the other schools in the area.

As a freshmen here at Lake Brantley High School, I didn't have to go through the normal pressures that most freshmen face. However, i'ts a very stuck-up school, only caring for middle-class students. I mean, it's okay, but I'd gladly move somewehere else.

One of the best High Schools around Central Florida

I am extremely pleased with Lake Brantley High School. I was orginally zoned for Lyman High School but decided to move upon a comparison between the two schools curriculum guide. Brantley offers an abundance of academic oppurtunities partly because of modified block scheduleing. This was proved to me as I realized I can be finished with 5 years of foreign language in about 3 years, counting AP foreign language. Also, I have never really enjoyed math, and Ive made mediocre grades throughout my academic career before coming to Brantley, but upon the gift of a brillant math teacher, I have done comparably better. She takes two hours with me after school to help free of charge. All my educators are sincerely dedicated to their professions. Although controversey surrounding the Lyman-Brantley rezoning abounds, I strongly beleive I made the right choice in coming to Brantley, the proof is sheerly in the curriculm

Highly overated High School They have some good AP and honors classes but the school seems more focused on sports. We have had 3 children attend LBHS. This school has a very poor reputation at providing special education. Look at the State of Florida Dept of Education website for more specicifics, but LBHS doesn't seem to be meeting their own objectives as a school.

I wanted my son to go to the best so we moved into the Lake Brantley School District and thought we were getting the best.. Over the 2 years my son spent at Brantley we were not satisfied. I think the great reputation is overrated. The school is full of cliques that do not encourage camaraderie . He played in the band for 6 years prior to coming to Brantley and loved it. After one year in the band at Brantley and he quit and has not picked up his instrument again due to the band directors methods. The school does have several AP classes that can be taken for college credit. There is a focus on either band or sports for extracurricular activities. My other son is at Seminole HS, loving everything about the IB Program. Sorry we didn't change schools.

As a student attending this school I can say that it is not all that it's cracked up to be. It is highly overrated. The student groups are very cliqish. We don't mingle with other groups besides our own. We spend far too much time practicing for the F-CAT then actually learning. Teachers seem to pay more attention to what you are doing wrong (i.e dresscode, cell phone misuse) then actually trying to teach you. Bottom line, it's not the best school out there anymore.

I dont like this school. we spend all of our money on the sports team but not enough on the book and things necessary for learning.

Lake Brantley is a safe High School. There are several teachers that need to find another profession. They do not have any support for those students that need extra help in a particular subject. They only activities they have is football and dance shows and mediocre choir performances.

The school has excellent academics and student involvement. It is one of the stars of Seminole School District. Lake Brantley has performed so well.

Solid curriculum, excellent staff, cold sterile campus, excelence in programs enhanced by unusually high parental involvement. Attendance policies overly strict. If a student needs lots of structure great place to go. Overall excellent school, lots of students body very cliquish. One son graduated from LBHS and when visiting siblings magnet school, couldn't believe difference in the way students behaved. Despite having nothing but the best LBHS is a cold sterile place compared to the poorly equiped Seminiole HS. LBHS student wishes he had gone to SHS after he had gotten a chance to spend some time on campus. LBHS is an excellent school, but it's reputation is slightly overrated. Not the best around, but almost there!

My daughter and this year my son both graduated from lake brantley. As far as schools go it's the best around. If your child needs that extra help or you need teachers to work with you to keep them on track they do. You don't get that everywhere. Sports,a pool, cheering or extra's they have it all. Parents always help with time and money. I have another child in 8th that will not be able to attend lake brantley because of rezoning. Totally not fair after seeing both her siblings love there school. And cheering for lbhs 8years through pop warner.. What a shame! All to you who will be going to lbhs be proud and take full advantage of all it has to offer.

Lake Brantley is a wonderful school. With a wide variety in electives it offers students an array of areas to explore. The teachers are attentive and truly care about the students which fosters a wonderful learing enviroment. 'Brantley' also has its own theatre and has many classes ofered in not only drama, but also theatre production. The music program at the school is also incredible, not only do they compete for national titles, but the Lake Brantley Choir is an honored guest every year at Disneys Epcot Candle Light Processional. If you are looking for well balanced highschool that you don't have to fight with your teenager to attend Lake Brantley is the school.

My son was educated at Lake Brantley High School, and was able to 'get in' and 'stay in' at Florida State University for the past two years. He is on the Dean's List at FSU, thanks to the excellent foundation that he received at Lake Brantley.

Lake Brantley is an excellent school, with very good academic programs. Students should take advantage of all the extracurricular activities Lake Brantley has to offer. Parents are encouraged participate actively.

I found out about this school before moving to Florida over a year ago. This High School had to be the best school in this school district as far as my research found, and it is. The teachers are very proactive in helping parents find out what's going on at school with their kids. The curriculum is broad and has fun courses for kids. I like the fact that I can check online my sons' grades and attendance. Good sports programs.

My nephew went to Lake Brantley after moving here from Hawaii and they were very nice and efficient in getting him enrolled ... I think Lake Brantley is a great school with a great attitude that inspired my nephew to do good.

This is an excellent school with a committed and united faculty and administration. They offer a wide range of classes and a beautiful vibrant campus.

Lake Brantley seems like a good school on the surface, you know, 'A' school, good surrounding area, the whole lot. But as a sophomore attending this school, I can tell you it's not what it's cracked up to be. Another thing, this school is very unsanitary.

Great School! Both of my brothers and I graduated from this school and it was great.

I'm a graduate of Lake Brantley and I can't stress how fortunate I feel for having had that opportunity. Now a parent myself, Brantley embodies all of the qualities I want for my children's education. The music department was my favorite, Mr. Ted Douce is an outstanding teacher and role model. The 'over achievers' this school has produced is unbelievable. I moved to MN, late my junior year, and was shocked to find I was at least a year ahead of everyone else. The quality of education at Brantley is unparalleled. There's a reason parents fight to get their children into Lake Brantley, you won't find a better school in the state.

I must say that I highly recommend this school. The office staff, VP's and Principal are more than willing to solve any issues a parent may have with a teacher or another student. Any issues I had were dealt with and solved in timely and very efficient manners with the utmost respect and care. I enjoyed the office much more than the teachers. Unfortunately I think most of the teachers have bad views on teenagers and don't really care to be there but they need the paycheck.

Excellent teachers, excellent programs. One of the Nations top 100 schools!

Lake Brantley High School offers high quality academic programs along with the widest range of extracurricular and athletic activities.

This is a good school the guidence department is very helpful when you need something. If you need help the teachers are willing to help you as long as you let them know that you want it.

Lake Brantley is considered one of the top schools in central Florida, but I do not see what is so great about it. Also, because LBHS dropped from an A to B school, there is a whole lot more FCAT practice wasting students time, and taking up valuable learning time.

A great school with probably the finest science departments, headed by Dr. Behal, in the State. They also have excellant student counsellors, such as Mr. Milwee. Not to mention the excellant music department.
