Longwood Elementary School Reviews

I am very grateful with teachers and administrators in this school. They are good with children. My daughter learned a lot, she is going to middle school and she is ready for advanced classes.

After moving into Seminole County from Orange County I am VERY happy with Longwood Elementary. My oldest son was classified as a child with ADD while attending school in Orange County and I was told he was only a few weeks behind everyone else. Boy did they drop the ball on my son! Since he and his little brother [K] have started at Longwood, I have seen tremendous growth in my oldest son. This school was our savior and I couldn't be happier. His teacher worked with him day in and day out, and got him all the help he was entitled too. Too say that this is not the school for a child with a 'problem' is a little far fetched. I would never classify my son as a 'problem' child but Longwood has done amazing things for him. =)

My child has attended Longwood Elementary K - 3 and is back to graduate with the fifth grade class. I have seen many changes within this school during the years and only a few have been beneficial to the school as a whole. I have heard Longwood Elementary described as ' the best kept secret' within the community ( tongue in cheek ). I, personally have had negative experiences with teachers and staff who either lack interest in teaching, their personal issues crossing into their jobs, their excessive habit of gossiping about parents of students, etc. The high acheivers recognized are hardly those who earned it through honest effort and a disturbing level of preferential treatment and honor is given to the children of PTA/ SAC board members. I feel it is a very political school and far from an equal opportunity to education.

I think that this school has very poor leader ship. This school is not for children with any kinds of problems. Now the Assistant Principal has wonderful leader ship and I feel if she took over this school would be a much better school for all children and teachers.

We are very pleased with Longwood Elementary. Our daughter is in Kindergarten this year and is excelling far beyond what we had hoped for, or even expected. We give credit, in large part, to the administration and staff at Longwood (her teacher is fabulous!). The system of discipline is effective, yet motivating....and the curriculum is fun, yet challenging enough to keep her interest. She even enjoys sharing with our family all the sign language she's learning along the way. Additionally, the Longwood student body is socio-economically well-balanced. This exposure to others from various backgrounds offers an enriched educational experience on yet another level altogether. One suggestion - the school district, administration, parents & students should band together to help beautify the grounds and enhance the website. Improvements here would help everyone take a little more pride in this diamond-in-the-rough.

I recomend this school. my niece who has a hard time paying attention not only has gotten good grades but now is involved in after school activities. She has excelled at reading.

I believe that the quality of academic programs is good. I think that they could have more extracurricular activities. I think that the level of parent involvement is good but you see the same parents all the time it seems. I don't necessarily belive that it is the schools fault for lack of parental involvement. I would have to say it has more to do with today's society and how everyone is so busy and running so much.

Rio Grande Elementary, in Terre Haute, Indiana, is an outstanding school. They have a high level of parent involvement, wide range of programs, and the academics are great.

This is a wonderful school. My daughter has been very happy here, and we couldn't have been happier with her fourth grade teacher. There are alot of activities such as sock hops, coach night, rollerskating nights, etc..

I was very hesitant to transfer my son to a new school just after finishing kindergarten, but I am glad I did... it was the best choice I made. My son loves his new school and adores his 1st grade teacher, Ms. Trovato. She and the staff have always made me feel that my voice matters and they truly do care for their students' success. My son has shown a great improvement socially and academically. Our family is very proud to be a part of Longwood Elementary.

I was very nervous about putting my only child into kindergarden in 2002. I was so luck to get Mrs Kenner as my sons teacher. She was very supportive and there to answer all of my questions. I would recommend anyone having a child entering kindergarden at Longwood Elementary to request Mrs. Kenner.
