Oak Hill Elementary School Reviews

Some workers are extremely rude. Several good teachers but overall attitude towards children from many teachers including the lunch room wathers. Nasty attitudes have made me try and transfer. Office workers are great.

I am upset because all the school cares about are FCATS. Therefore only tutoring is available to 3, 4, and 5th graders. My 2nd grader has been on an AIP for 3 years and will now have to repeat 2nd grade and I still cannot get a tutor. The after school program available keeps them locked in a lunchroom and they may let the kids go out play once every 3 months. They never go over their homework with them which is what they stated that they would do. I have asked for a tutor all year long and have been denied.

Unprofessional atmosphere and low expectations make this an unpleasant place for a child.

My daughter is in 4th grade, and has been at Oak Hill since the middle of Kindergarten. She has always had excellent teachers who have pushed her to excel. She was given help in the areas where she was weak and challenged in the areas where she was stronger. I am very pleased with the school overall. Last year my daughter finally made Honor Roll for the entire second half of the school year. I hope she continues to have teachers throughout middle and high school as good as she has had at Oak Hill. It is not just the responsibility of the school to educate our children, but learning should start and continue at home as well. The school and home need to work together for a child to reach their full potential.

Oak Hill is working very hard to overcome some enormous challenges. They are located in between Pine Hills and Metrowest. The economic base for a great majority of the students is very low. Parental participation can be described as apathetic, at best. They have decreased class size, improved curriculums, and done a number of things to encourage parent involvement. Although I am extremely happy with my daughter's second grade teacher, I have seen a wide variety in the quality of instructors at various levels.
