Palmetto Elementary School Reviews

Palmetto has undergone a beautiful reconstruction making it very modern looking. A beautiful big building to support it's almost 1300 plus students. Adminstration is clearly smart and motivated with definite plans to improve their school grade for next year.

I was very disappointed in this schools academic program. I did not believe that they had the best learning interest of the child in mind. Lots of substitute teachers. no real homework or projects. Language barriers may be issue here.

Super effort from the teachers. Lots of programs, sometimes too many. Wuld like to see school wide programs for extended period of time and not a hit and miss approach.

This school lacks communication skills between the teachers and the students and boasts about zero tolerance of bullying yet kids are constantly being abused by other students and these occurences are being swept under the rug.

Mrs. Lias is a very dedicated principal with a high level of experience. She strives for the support and involvement of parents and the community overall. Parents work one and two jobs, which makes it difficult to get 'involved'. The kids come from multi-language/multi-cultural families that contributes to medium to low functioning in school. The teacher are many times young teachers who move on because of marriage, husband careers and babies. The average stay may be impacted because of these reasons. Palmetto is an excellent school, with a dedicated staff and a wonderful, experienced, knowledgable principal. Come volunteer you help, donate monies, donate books, and become involved. What you see is what you get at Palmetto. Brand new school, quality teachers and great leadership. Parent involvement is not great, but getting better.

The biggest problem at the school is the high mobility rate of our student population. Discipline needs to be addressed more forcefuly
