i am in the 8th grade at MMS! i love maitland middle school it is amazing. there music program is the best in the state. if you are thinking about putting your child in MMS take it from a student i defenitly would

this school has gone so far downhill and I cannot wait for my child to get out of it. There are so many terrible teachers and one bad principal after another has driven it into the ground.

this school is a very good school

This school is only after the FCAT A classification and not properly teaching children. The teacher turnover last year was unacceptable and the communicatioon with parents concering the teacher turnover was also inexcusable.

I used to go to this school, the teachers were great and I love this school, I learned a lot from this school.

This is not an A school no matter what the state says. All Fcat All The Time, primary focus is on Fcats & on interracial acceptance instead of on education. Maitland deserves better. Our kids deserve better.

Maitland Middle just got a new principal. This should have the effect of improving the school as he exerts more leadership and communication with parents and teachers than the previous administrator. Maitland has excellent teachers, but has been in need of a more capable adminstrator to bring focus to the curriculur and restore some vigor with regard to interdisciplinary approach. In general the amount of homework is solid, the school is improving in math and reading....and has a very capable and experienced staff.

Mediocre describes this school well. With all the difficulties regarding education in our state, this school finds the time and rescources to worry about too many bathroom breaks. They start the kids out in the 6th grade with hardly any challenges presented to them. When asked why, the response is, 'we want to give them time to acclimate to the middle school environment'. Of course the acclimation takes all year. My son made honor roll 4 out of four grading periods. In the seventh grade they slam them (change the rules). This school is busy playing the FCAT game like so many in our state.

I would want my child to go back to meadowbrook middle because that school is made for my child and I love that school so much because I went to that school and my oldest daugter went to that school since 6 to 8 .

An excellent school. The do a great job of keeping the younger kids seperated from the older kids. Also they have smaller teams within grades so that kids get to feel like they are in a smaller school. I have had a wonderful experience with my son who is in 7th grade this year.

I have to agree with the review from March 2005. The office staff is very unfriendly and not welcoming. Some of the other staff in the school are not much better. Parents are not encouraged to be there; it's almost like we are a bother and they don't want us there. I think the 'A' money should go back into the school. Maybe not all of it, but more than the teachers are willing to give up. We get all this 'A' money, then the teachers ask parents for money b/c they say the school doesn't have any. That's a problem. It's almost like you are guilty until proven innocent. The school needs an overhaul! Physically and Administratively!

This school has been at best mediocre. Our daughter is identified as gifted, and MMS aledges to have gifted courses. This year in her 7th grade 'gifted' geography class, she is doing a lot of coloring. The staff at MMS are very unfriendly and rude to kids and parents alike (at least they don't discriminate). At this A plus school, the teachers took their A plus money and voted to give themselves a bonus rather that putting the money back into the classrooms and cirriculum. The administration appears almost adversarial to parents and their concerns. We will say, however, the music department is excellent. The band teachers go up and beyond the call of duty for their kids. I sure wish the other faculty would take their lead.

I have to say as a parent of a ESE student that this school is great in meeting his physical, psychological, and scholastic needs! He is happy with his environment and teachers. I am impressed with the extra cirricular activities and parent involvement in the school!! Keep up the good work!!

Well I am not an parent but I was a student this my last year and to tell you the truth this school got an lot of things to do with education and this is the best school ever in Orange County and no school can beat it.

Maitland is a really great school. They have one of the best music program in the area! Also Maitland has a wonderful gifted education program. Parents are encouraged to be involved at the school.
