Choices In Learning Charter School Reviews

We had a great year in this school, from great teachers, discipline, security for the kids, extra curricular program, encouragment, excelent comunication between parents, teacher and administrative staff there is nothing that I can complain about and I looking foward for my kids to complete their elementary school in choices in learning .

Choices in Learning is an excellent school. They offer everything a school should offer plus. The teachers are terrific. The principal and office staff are very nice and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.

Unfortunately this school is ran like a military camp. Faculty and Staff constantly down the children. No communication between teachers and parents. Upper administration including the Principal and Facility Manager are not helpful and unwilling to talk to parents on a truthful level.

It is a great school but unfortunately the principal is unfriendly and does not treat the teachers well.

Excellent school. Great for one on one teaching!

(5) star so far this is a really great start for my kindergarten child.....

My first experience at Choices my child entered into Kindergarden, and we had a awesome teacher. By the second year is when the tables turned. Choices is very good at advancing students in reading classes, but they are not willing to push a child for the gifted program (even if the grades have been apparent for at least a year and a half.) Not only that, there teachers can be a bit too strict, and some prefer to only communicate with parents via the planner. I don't recommend this school to anyone. I have since switched schools, and by the end of the first week received a good phone call from my childs new teacher. I can't say enough how good I felt to finally have a teacher willing to communicate with parents.

Love this school although this was my daughters last year, I will recommend everyone I know who has school age children to attend this school. The students get a 'reality' education. My daughter was involved in so many of the programs at the school fencing, track, chorus, math club etc.

Since the new principal took over the turnover of teachers is incredible. That can tell you that something is not right in the school. The school is only concerned with their FCAT scores if your son or daughter is not able to perform there is no help available. The school is not safe. Kids are found many times walking around without adult supervision. People come and go as they wish. The school has some positive things such as, uniforms, small classes and parents are very involved. But if you consider the safety of your children top priority this is not the school.

Great school! Lots of dedication from teachers, staff and parents. I highly recommend this school!

This school is a great family community. One comment my son made was there are no bullies. The teachers are great and helpful. The cooperative learning gives kids the chance to work together and learn to communicate on many levels. For me this is the only school in Seminole County I want my kids to be.

CIL has a wonderful staff of teachers and a strong academic platform for reading. Since the changing of principals 2 years ago there have been many changes. Overall the changes have been positive in the way of earning recognition with the county but, have declined in the initial small 'private school' setting it used to have. My children have been at the school for 4years and we have seen many changes, good and bad. Schools are not perfect and your choice has to be made in the best interest of your child. If you are looking for small classroom settings, leveled reading, uniforms and very caring teachers this is the right school for you. We have been fairly satisfied given the school choices in the area.

My children attend Choices and I was very happy last year. I believe that Mrs. McCutchin works hard at making sure the school is a safe and positive place. This year (2006-2007) many new teachers were hired and they seem to be completely unorganized and inexperienced which is causing me great concern. I am very disappointed as last year was so phenomenal and this year so far is a flop.

I had a student in kindergarten and a pre-K student at Choices for the 2005-2006 school year. I was genuinely pleased with most everything about the school. Both of my children learned a lot from caring, friendly teachers. Unfortunately we moved from the area or my children would be attending Choices again.

Overall we were OK w/ this school for the past 2 years. They teach in fun & interesting ways. Most of the teachers are very nice. I wasnt happy with the new principal. My children & I both thought she was too mean. My children hated the lunches, they order from another school, so they were always cold & gross & not enough, not at all worth the money it cost. I am not happy about the buses. They are crazy & kids are not supervised & had nasty mouths, so I have had to take my kids to & from school because of this & we live 20 minutes away. I Love the uniform idea (kids hated it)

The school has come a long way. New pricipal is trying to make the school the best it can be. The school continues to suceed despite the inherint challenges that charter school faces. I like the small town family atmosphere.

The leadership of this school is more concerned with the dress code than student's academic progress. The level of parental involvement is overwhelming to teachers and staff. Students do not have access to art, PE, and music everyday. Instead they are on a rotating wheel, art one day, PE the next, and then music and the wheel starts over again. They base their academics on a program called Success For All. It is very weak for teaching science and math. Reading with SFA is not bad, but limits teacher creativity in the classroom. I would not send my children to this school.

Our two children have attended CIL since it first opened. The best two aspects of this environment are the reading program and the open minded staff. It has a very small school atmosphere, while being a free, public school. Everyone knows everyone. The teachers know all the students. They are able to customize the environment to meet the individual needs of the child. We love it!

Choices In Learning is an awesome school. It offers several advantages to Seminole County residents: CIL can enroll from most areas of Seminole County; it offers small class sizes; and the full Success For All curriculum. Students at this school begin reading in Kindergarten and are advanced throughout the year based on quarterly reading assessments. Our parents are very involved and supportive which creates a wonderful community atmosphere. We welcome anyone who is interested in another educational option in Seminole County to visit us for a tour.

My daughter attends Choices In Learning and I could not be happier with her academic progress and just the whole school experience! We are not just a school, we are a community of caring, interested parents who want the best for our children. Children are valued at our school and the staff right up to the principal takes care to foster each child's individuality while teaching them to be a responsible member of society. Parents always feel welcome to volunteer and are viewed as an important part of the school.

A place where children are taught to thrive within their greatest capacity to achieve! The staff and involved parent body at Choices are interested in everything that relates to it's children and the best interests of the children. I am the proud parent of children that began their school years at a well respected private school. I now send my children to this school. I am thrilled that these capable educators have been able to duplicate the standards of achievement typically seen only at the finest private schools. I will save $18000.00 this year and my children are academically, socially and emotionally nourished. To say that I am a satisfied parent would be an understatement. I expected a lot! I continue to receive an inspiring level of joy and pride in the staff, parents and students of Choices In Learning in Longwood. Thank you.
