Passport Charter School Reviews

Great staff! Children are getting an excellent education at Passport!

Teachers and staff at Passport work with the children on their level. Because Passport is an inclusive school, like the schools we grew up with each child has their own learning abilities. Teachers and staff go above and beyond to help each child succeed.

My sons have been in Passport Charter School for the past 3 years and I am so very grateful to have this alternative when it comes to the elementary and middle schools in my district. The student/teacher ratio is low and the one on one the students receive from the teachers and the principal has been very beneficial to the boys. They are very content and I recommend all my parent friends to enroll their children or place them on the wait list which now exist to such a great school.

My son has attended Passport Charter School for three years. I feel that enrolling him into Passport was the best decision I have made for his education. He was below grade level and he had little confidence in improving. Since attending Passport he is on grade level in most subjects, above in others, and enjoys going to school. I do and have always felt welcome by the staff, parents and students. There has always been open communication with his teachers. My son did not want to leave his former school, so I made a deal that if after two weeks he still wanted to go to his old school we would talk about it again. After just three days he came home thanking me. He said 'I have better friends and my teacher helps me'. That said it all for me.

The quality of academic programs will continue to slide as more and more teachers leave. No formal music, art, or physical education programs are offered due to lack of space, funding, and personel. Parent involvement is limited to those that are felt welcome by administration, and this is a select few.

Passport Charter School, a school that seeks to provide full inclusion, is a school with tremendous promise. Unfortunately, this school is plagued with many problems. The Director does not have the leadership qualities necessary to run a school such as Passport. Instead of addressing major issues, he prefers to focus on minor ones. The Dean of Students has been very unprofessional in her dealings with staff, students, and parents. Teachers and assistants at this school are exceptional. They are and have been at this school for the right reason to enrich the lives of the attending students. It is unfortunate that any of these individuals have left Passport due to the lack of support they received from the administration. Passport Charter School, if run properly by competent people who really love children, could flourish. It has been sad to see its mission statement not closely followed and beloved staff members leave.

Great school, my kids have never been happier! The teachers are wonderful and are willing to go the extra mile to help each student.

My child attended Passport Charter throughout his entire elementary education. He is a gifted student and was taught at his level. The classrooms were small and allowed teacher/student interation at a better quality level. Student's individual needs were met while encouraging improvement in their individual academic levels. There is a lot of encouragement for parent participation at the school. Volunteers are welcome although they now must check in at the office for assignment. Administration and staff are wonderful and excited to work with both regular and special needs kids.

Passport Charter School is a wonderful academic evironment for all students and teachers. I feel blessed to be involved with such an unique institution. Thankfully, many children will be able to benefit from the teachers and administrators.

This school needs help, the principle seems to feel like he is GOD!!and doesnt have a clue in running the place,he tries to hard to please a few of the staff members, who seem to have more say than others, its a shame that the school doesnt really cater for all students, just a select few

Great concept, poor execution. It is a shame that a school that attempts to implement a pedagogy as noble as full-inclusion is limited by such poor administrative leadership. When a school has teachers so committed to a philosophy that they are constantly willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of the school and those teachers are systematically chased off rather than embraced and supported because of self-serving administrative agendas and the incestuous nature board of directors it will most certainly be relegated to mediocrity at best. Unfortunately because of the autonomous nature of charter schools a school as small this can be brought down by a handful of people that hold all the power to affect change especially when such power is wielded with impunity. Kudos to the teachers and parents that have fought to maintain the original vision of the school despite all the adversity they faced.

My daughter has just started at Passport in grade 7 and for the first time since preschool, she LOVES school. Class size enables her to not slip through the cracks...so far our experience has been very good.
