My boyfriend and I went to Coggin Honda Orlando to purchase a vehicle. They showed him the car and he loved it. He filled out all the finance paperwork and purchased insurance for the vehicle because you can’t drive off the lot unless you have insurance. We keep the car for a week and the salesman called and said there was a problem. We went back up to the dealership and they told us that he was not approved for financing. We were fine with this, because he has not been in his residence and job for at least 6 months since he just moved to Orlando. That was all fine. I was a little upset that they let us drive off the lot and keep the car for so long but I got over that. I never made any formal complaints or anything. The problem that I had was with the Finance department. According to my insurance company in order to break the 6 months contract with them we needed proof that he was not given possession of the vehicle. I went to the dealership and the Finance Director Robert Odel wrote me a letter. I gave the letter to my insurance company but they rejected it because it had no date on the letter. My insurance agent tried several times to contact Mr. Odel and he spoke to her at first told her he was going to add a date and fax it back to her. He never did and when she called him back he hung up the phone on her. I drove up there and ask to speak with him. He came out his office and was very friendly to me until we got in his office. Then his whole tone changed and he said he was not writing me another letter and he had a meeting to go to and he did not have time for this. I told him I totally understand that you are busy I am suppose to be at work myself. I asked him again please just write the letter I will get out of your way. He told me no. I took my papers and told him fine I won’t contact you again the next person you will hear from will be my lawyer, he said for me to do whatever I wanted to do. I was just so upset that he was making this such a big deal. It was part of his job. The insurance company is not just going to terminate a contract just by word of mouth they need proof. Anyway I went to the front desk and ask for someone over him. But the receptionist said they were all in the meeting. Mr. Odel came to the desk and once again his tone changed and told me that if I wait till he got out the meeting he would write the letter for me. About 10 minutes later he came out and put the paper on the table and told me to write the letter and he will sign it. I just could not believe that it took so much to get him to write a 2 line letter just stating that he never took possession of the vehicle and the date. This was a one month process. The purchase date was on the 2/21/09 and I fought with them on this until 3/20/09. His attitude was insane. They are all nice to you when you are signing all the papers buying a vehicle from them then after that their customer service skills go down the drain.

Went to this dealer to buy a civic. We told them our price range for a civic and ended up in the used lot. All sales people very pushy. Brought a used 2004 civic-we were told if changed mind have so many hours to bring back. Well we went home decided to buy a new 2 door model . Left message at dealer and received one back "yes we could switch" When we went to the dealer the next day the brakes were making a terrible noise . We took it to the service part and everyone looked to see what was making the racket. We made sure to tell all "yes we just brought this here!" The service people took the car in. We went back to the new area and found the next person higher then the sales rep and he said "oh sorry didn't know we had CHANGED THE PROGRAM and you can't switch the car...."I went one level higher and got so much ?!/# we just decided why give any one at the dealer more money. By then they had fixed the brakes .. The car sales part of the dealer STAY AWAY The service part of this dealer is well organized and does a high volume . The only reason they got any stars is for the service area. With so many Honda dealers around save yourself the trouble and buy somewhere else!

Pros: great service department

Cons: sales department

Beware when purchasing from them! by Teddy B.

Sure, their smiles gleam with kindness. Sure, their voices sound innocent. Truth is, they're just in it for the money. Be aware of the most common bait-and-switches - they use them. NEVER negotiate off monthly payment. Watch all prices they give you in every category. They will try and hit you with a HUGE(!!!!) $595 documentation fee that is pure profit for them if you're not vigilant. Watch out for them trying to change your financing years without notifying you. Be certain to watch your trade-in value as they will definitely give you the lowest amount possible for it. When you negotiate, know the price you're going to buy for it and do not budge. If you go in uninformed, they'll go a couple negotiating rounds with you acting like their final deal is the best price to give you when in reality it's definitely not. Take this advice from somebody who experience many of their little tricks and bought a car from them. This is a dealership not worth trusting during the sale.

I recently made a new car purchase at Coggin Honda, I found the staff to be professional and up front. The customer waiting area offers many comforts, such as snacks, for the kids, movies, and coffee. The only downside is the whole price negotiating process takes to long.
