2009 Central FL KidFest: Have fun and learn about child safety
Published: Aug 22, 2009
The Ninth Annual Central Florida Kidfest & Family Expo brings together families and participating community and nonprofit organizations with the mission to help keep children safe. And the best part is that it’s free!
To be held Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Celebration of Praise Church in Clermont, the expo will highlight a wide-ranging assortment on issues related to safety in the car, on the street, on bicycles, at home or while at play. Via interactive displays and personal discussions, parents and caregivers are able to gain greater awareness of individualized circumstances and how to deal with them.
The day’s practical programs include child fingerprinting, drug awareness and car seat, swimming, fire and bicycle safety. Attendees can meet law enforcement officers from various agencies, as well as fire fighters, paramedics and forest rangers, each with their vehicles. More light-hearted activities will include inflatable games, clowns, puppets, balloons, food, refreshments and face painting.
Multiple mascots will appear, too, such as Smokey the Bear, Larry and Vince - the Crash Test Dummies, Trooper Fuzz and Eddie Eagle. And celebrities Catherine Rodriguez and Renee Adams highlight a series of performances at the Kidfest Auditorium. Featured again this year at Central Florida Kidfest & Family Expo will be the “Celebrity Reading Room” where children’s stories will be read by various local TV News personalities.
The expo will be held at the Celebration of Praise Church of God, which is located at 3700 South U.S. Highway 27 in Clermont, about 45 minutes from downtown Orlando and Orlando International Airport.
